Happy New Year 2021

Well, it can’t be worse than last year…we hope.

As the world is still in lockdown and we aren’t able to meet in person yet, we are continuing our Zoom meetings for our members. Please see the dates below of the meetings we will be hosting. These have proved to be very popular last year and have been a lifeline to many, and especially to those who have lost their dear twins last year, with all the difficulties that has entailed.

·         Saturday 16th January at noon online: theme of “Hooray it’s 2021!” Steps we can take to remain positive.

·         Saturday 13th February at noon online: theme of ‘Crafts and hobbies to help with twin loss’.

We hope to run a separate session for very new members who we feel need to be cared for in a different way and introduced gently to our screen-based meetings.

·         Saturday 13th March at noon online: theme tbc

·         Saturday 17th April at noon online: theme tbc

Please note that you must be a member of the Lone Twin Network in order to attend any of the meetings. Please use the Contact Us page and we will send you an application form.

Amendment to our membership criteria

Since the Network has existed, we have only accepted lone twins, over 18 years and generally from loss at birth onwards.
In recent years it has become increasingly difficult and emotionally heartbreaking to turn away lone twins whose twin had died in utero. For the past year or so we considered admitting lone twins into the Network if their twin had died in the last trimester of pregnancy; this did not work as in many cases the surviving twin did not know when the loss occurred and even if they did it was unfair to draw a line that decreed that at 185 days you could not become a member of The Lone Twin Network but at 186 days you could. It was therefore decided at the last committee meeting that any surviving twin who was over the age of 18 could be eligible for membership if they had lost their twin at any stage in utero or later in life.

Update on meetings for 2020

A message from our Chair –
We are experiencing unprecedented restrictions throughout the UK and
abroad due to the coronavirus and my first thoughts are to wish you all well
and stress the importance of following guidelines. Be well, be safe.
As you know by now we have had to postpone the proposed AGM in
Sheffield which is a great disappointment especially after all of the
organization by Jill and Janet. We look forward to the AGM being held in
London later in the year – if this is safe to do so.
As I am writing it seems that almost all if not all meetings are on hold,
this seems to be the only sensible thing to do under the circumstances.
We will through this harrowing time keep in touch with members both
online and where possible by post but please remember that we are all here
for each other and a ‘buddy’ system to ensure we are all OK would ensure
that no members become isolated in their homes with nobody to talk to
Be well, be safe.
